WECAI: The Azores Chosen for First Global Congress

The First Global Congress of WECAI - Women’s Ecommerce Association, International is scheduled for September 19-21, 2005 and will take place at Ponta Delgada (Azores / Portugal), from 19 to 21 september. The works of the event include creating the First Women’s Who’s Who in Ecommerce Directory, starting chapters on all seven continents, designing an Ecommerce Academy for women to further their knowledge and experience with ecommerce.

Law via the Internet 2005

Just a bit away from Ole Europe, "The Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute (PacLII), in conjunction with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII), will host the 7th 'Law via Internet' Conference on 17-19 November 2005 in Vila, Republic of Vanuatu. Previous Law via Internet Conferences have been held in Sydney (1997, 1999, 2001, 2003), Montreal (2002) and Paris (2004).

Law via the Internet 2005 will present both submitted and invited papers. The Conference will be preceded by the annual meeting of the Free Access to Law Movement on 17 November, and the conference proper will take place on 18-19 November.

You can read the programmes for the 2004 (Paris) conference and for earlier Conferences to see the wide range of topics covered. Also available are selected papers from previous Conferences.

Proceeds from the Conference will support the provision of free access to law via the net.

"Commission to invest € 1 billion into Research on Information and Communication Technologies"

According to the Press Room of the European Commission, "The Commission is about to launch 276 new research projects in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) with €1 billion in EU funding. This is the result of the fourth Information Society Technology Call for Proposals under the EU’s Sixth Research Framework Programme. This EU contribution is one of the largest totals awarded as the result of a single Call for Proposals in the history of EU research."
